- Veneered with an early use of celluloid over wood, these uniquely American clocks were
intended to imitate the expensive French imports of the last quarter of the 19th century and
early part of the 20th century. They were made by Seth Thomas in Thomaston, Connecticut and
employ a thin marbleized layer of early plastic over poplar or pine. This was to appear like
genuine marble or slate but at a far less cost. These clocks are rugged, run very well, and
this faux finish gave it a durability to minor scratchs and dents. They are 8-day, key wind
pendulum clocks and gong at the hour.
- All these clocks have been refurbished by an outside company, are running well and are
guaranteed by the Clockfolk. They are priced at less than $800.00 each, and measure
approximately:
16" wide x 11" tall x 7" deep
