CAPE ELIZABETH - Laura Lee Page, 60, of Hunts Point Road, Cape Elizabeth, died peacefully at home on March 5, 2006, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant struggle with cancer. Laurie lived with dignity and left us with dignity.

Laurie was the loving wife of Richard L. Page and adored mother of Brian and Eric Page. Laurie and Rich were high school sweethearts and best friends. They were blessed with 38 years of marriage.

Laura was born in Waltham, Mass., on Feb. 26, 1946. She was the daughter of Robert W. and Ruth Kittredge McCabe. She graduated from Wilmington High School, Wilmington, Mass., in 1964 and continued her education at Westbrook Junior College with an associates degree in 1966.

Later she completed her bachelor degree from the University of New England in 1999. Laurie and her family moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine in 1985. Laurie was employed at Cape Elizabeth's Middle School. As her children attended high school, she became an admissions councilor at the University of New England. Most recently, she was a customer service representative at L.L.Bean.

Laurie was an active community volunteer working in Grafton, Mass. as secretary of Little League. In Cape Elizabeth, Laurie was chairperson of Project Graduation in 1992. She was also actively involved in Cape Elizabeth Soccer Boosters, helping to establish a scholarship fund.

Laurie had an indomitable spirit and was blessed with many friends with whom she considered family and shared love, laughter, and tears. She had great love of the water and was always happy to be on her boat with her family and friends. Some of her fondest memories on the Post Grad included a cruise out of Casco Bay as dolphins followed, and lunch off of Boothbay Harbor shared with friends and a Humpback whale.

Her family and friends remember her warmth, and her outreaching strength for others. Laurie loved gardening and the experience of fostering of new life. Laurie greatly enjoyed shopping with her friends. She was as comfortable on Fifth Avenue as she was at the Cape Elizabeth swap shop boutique.

Laurie was tremendously proud of her family. On Jan. 18, 2005 Laurie became the loving Grandmother of Tegan Lynn Page. Laurie wrote, "She's perfect in every way. Tegan will be locked in our hearts forever."

Laurie is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Rich; son, Eric, his wife Lori and granddaughter Tegan; son, Brian and his wife Elizabeth; brother, Bob McCabe and his wife Martha;and many nieces and nephews. Her friends and family will honor her memory.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, at the Hobbs Funeral Home 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, a celebration of her life will take place 10 a.m., Thursday, March 9 at St. Albans Episcopal Church 885 Shore Rd., Cape Elizabeth.
