RMA Survey Results
These graphs illustrate the results of survey taken by 54 market farmers' members who attended the Ag
Trades Show in Augusta Jan 11-13, 2011, regarding their views about the formation of a statewide association of farmers' markets.
Note that the results of this survey may be somewhat skewed by the fact that it only was given to people who actually came to the Ag Trades Show, and thereby showed an interest in furthering their education on ag-related matters. Note that many market members across the state, such as crafters and bakers, would have minimal interest in the Ag Trades Show.
The questions as presented here are not in the same order as they were presented in the survey. However, at various times the survey sheets were present to respondants in different order. Respondants' comments are at the end.
This page and graphs were prepared by Tom Roberts on 15-Jan-11 from a spreadsheet compiled by Sarah Joy Chaples.
Do you think your market(s) would benefit from a farmers' market association? (98% of respondants answered this qustion.)

Comments:[Respondants were allowed to write any coments on a blank page created for that purpose.]
Resource for supplies (i.e. bags, signage, etc)
also packaging supplies for CSAs
Canning supplies (i.e jam jars to purchase locally in Maine)
On the internet : who is at the market today and what did they bring?
Statewide (perhaps regionally connected) consumer education resource (i.e. what to do with what you bought at your local farmers' market).
More readily accessible/visible "portal" online - consumers don't know "Get Real, Get Maine" vendor site - it's hard to "get to" via search engines
How can local producers/growers contribute to the state's "food insecure" demographic population? How do we make this connection? Municipalities? State? Federal?
