4. Location: Discuss how our foray downtown went. How has the parking scene on
Saturdays been? Tuesdays in the fall is on borrowed time. Do we want to fight for our spot or find a new
location?
5. Membership Application Process:
Should we create a separate position on the Steering Committee for handling membership?
Should we move up the dates for the new membership process?
The current rules say that provisional members will be voted on for full membership at the April meeting.
Should we move this date up to the annual meeting?
6. Proposals for updating the Market Rules - Tom
a. New schedule for acceptance of new applications: Since April is very late for anyone to know
for sure that they have been accepted into the Market, several Steering Committee members have proposed
moving up our schedule for both old and new member applications. Definite dates need to be set both for the
application deadline and for reviewing the new applications, and Rules 1.a., 1.e., 1.h. and 1.i. revised
accordingly.
b. Winter meetings will be after winter markets (2nd Saturdays of the month) in January (Annual
Meeting), February (new applications review?), & March (if needed). Affects Rules 1.a. and 1.i., and this
schedule should also be stated in the Rules, suggest as new Rule 2.e. Also: should the "Snow Date Rule" for
the Winter Market also apply to the meeting dates? This decision should become part of new Rule 2.e.
c. Using the Downtown Orono location as a default when the Steam Plant lot is unavailable on Saturdays.
Affects Rule 2.c., and should be added as a new Rule 2.d.
7. Budget Surplus: What should we do with it? Ideas have been floated: to make a
donation, increased publicity, reduce dues.
8. Jobs: Divide up the various tasks which make the market happen.
